While her husband served in World War II, she commuted daily from Providence to the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston where she worked. When Clint returned from military service, they built their home in Providence. After his death in 1986, she continued to live there until 2016. At the age of 93, she became a resident at Magnolia's Assisted Living in Santee where she was a beloved part of the family there. She was always very involved with and dearly loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known as "Mimi" not only to all of them, but also to their friends, neighbors, Providence Carpool Kids and JuJu's kids and their parents. Mrs. Shuler was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church which she attended all of her life. She was named Mother of the Year by the church members in 2011. A member of the Providence United Methodist Women, she was chosen as UMW Woman of the Year in 2014. Mrs. Shuler was a loyal member of the USC Gamecock Club for 57 years. She was a loyal Gamecock supporter and an avid fan of all the sports programs. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: June S. Ravan and her husband, Steve, of Starr; sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph C. (Joe) Shuler, Jr. and his wife, Floy, Holly Hill; Robert O. (Bob) Shuler and his wife, Cathy of the Providence Community of Holly Hill and seven grandchildren, Tom Ravan (Connie), Scott Ravan (Sara), Brook Ravan (Katherine), Clinton Shuler (Ashley), Greg Shuler (Jessi), Cate August (Ed) and Roberta Shuler. She also had 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Charles L. Hutto and his wife, Harriet, of the Providence Community of Holly Hill. Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 29 from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm at the Avinger Funeral Home, Holly Hill. At other times, friends may call at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shuler in Holly Hill. Memorials may be made to Providence United Methodist Church c/o Frankie Dantzler 2988 Bass Drive, Santee, SC 29142.
