William "Ace" M McCreight

February 16, 1954 — November 8, 2021

William “Ace” McCreight went home to our Father on Monday November 8, 2021. He is survived by his sons Skipper McCreight (Heather) and Chad West (Audrey), grandson Conor West, brother-in-law Jasper Solt, nephew Jason Solt, and niece Sydney Solt.

Ace was born in Camden, SC in 1954 and was a proud graduate of the Citadel, Class of 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. After school, Ace was a well-known personality at the Naval Electronics Systems Command (NAVELEX) and Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). While working at NAVELEX, Ace met Joyce, and the two married in 1994. For several years, Ace and Joyce drove their small Boston Whaler boat across the Bermuda Triangle to the Bahamas. One year, Ace drove a 17-foot Boston Whaler to the Bahamas and back. His fellow sailors (on much larger 30-foot boats) bestowed upon him the “Most Courageous Sailor” award when he arrived in the Bahamas. Ace’s favorite activities included operating the sound board at Old Fort Baptist church, working in the yard, and collecting Boston Whaler boats and memorabilia.

Shortly before retiring from SPAWAR in 2017, Ace and his late wife Joyce moved to a lake house in Santee SC. There, they enjoyed days by the pool, golf cart rides with their puppies to “The Pointe”, and many neighbors with whom they became very close. In 2021, Ace began 3-D printing and enjoyed watching his 5-year-old grandson Conor play soccer. Ace’s invariable response to “How ya doing Ace” was an energetic and sincere “Liv’n the dream!” Ace was a man who knew no strangers. He treated everyone like family and was a dependable jack of all trades who was always offering his assistance to those in need without the slightest bit of hesitation. His quirky sense of humor, generous heart, and warm smiles will truly be missed.

While with us, Ace was a follower of Jesus, and as a co-heir with Christ, is now privileged to be in His presence. As believers, we look forward to being reunited with Ace once again and for forever.
