Walter M. Swearingen

EUTAWVILLE - Walter M. Swearingen, 79, of Eutawville, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in a North Charleston hospital. Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Rev. Earl Behr officiating. Visitation will be prior the service beginning at 3 p.m. Mr. Swearingen was born in Augusta, a son of the late Jesse E. Swearingen and Daisy Rowe Swearingen. He retired from the Marine Corps and later became a fishing guide. Walt was an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching NASCAR and baseball on television. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Swearingen. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Asa "Pat" Swearingen of Eutawville, and nieces, Vickie Cox of Atlanta, and Vanessa Cooper of Augusta.
