Walter C. Hilderman III

EUTAWVILLE - Walter Carrington Hilderman III, 66, husband of Patricia "Pat" Outz Hilderman, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at his home. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Historic Bost Grist Mill in Concord, NC. A visitation will be prior beginning at 2 p.m., and a meal will follow the memorial service. Mr. Hilderman was born in Ft. Benning, GA, a son of the late Walter Carrington Hilderman, Jr. and Barbara Jeanette Harvey Hilderman. A retired captain from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, he was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, a member of the Civil War Reenactors for 53 years, a member of the Military Order of Stars and Bars, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was the author of two books, and was preceded in death by a brother, John Harvey Hilderman. Surviving are his wife of Eutawville; a daughter, Christine (Mike) Carper of Cornelius, NC; a son, Walter (Katie) Carrington Hilderman IV of Webster Groves, MO; a step-daughter, Jenny Gardner of Eutawville; a step-son, Brady (Sara) Gardner of Fuquay-Varina, NC; a sister, Ann (Jerry) Clark of Cookeville, TN; and 11 grandchildren.
