Thomas Mellichamp Shuler Jr., 90, of Elloree, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Jerusalem United Methodist Church, Elloree, with the Rev. Terry Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. T.M. was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Thomas M. Shuler and Luella Jones Shuler. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired carpenter for the state of South Carolina. T.M. liked fishing and hunting and was president of the FBI Hunting Club. He was a member of Jerusalem UMC and was preceded in death by sons Thomas M. Shuler III and Leland Wayne Shuler. Surviving are daughters, Karen S. Hughes of Elloree and Paula (David) Shuler of Providence; sons, Willis (Jeanette) Nolind of Walterboro and Bill (Lorraine) Bronson of Walterboro; a sister, Frances (Bill) Smith of Elloree; grandchildren, Dale Hughes and Bradley Hughes; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
