Stephen Lenn “Steve” Douglas, 72 of Santee, South Carolina, husband of Cindy Douglas passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. 

Born on January 24, 1954, in Clarksdale, MS Steve was the eldest son of the late Minnie Mae Lennep Douglas and Stancil Dodds Douglas.

Steve was an avid history fan. He loved reading, researching and especially telling about history. Steve always wanted to know about people’s last names so he could look up their ancestors and relay the information he found.

Steve worked for Lowe’s for 25 years as a warehouse manager. When he retired he devoted his time to his research and family. Steve was a traditional family man and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.

Steve was a past President of the Santee Lions Club, member of the Sons of American Revolution, lifetime member of Military Order of the Stars and Bars, lifetime member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, Master Mason 3rd Degree life member Charity Lodge 62.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents.

Steve is survived by his wife of 43 years Cindy, Santee; daughter Katherine Mason (Keith), Mooresville, NC; son Dodds Douglas, Santee; brother David Douglas, Columbus, Ga; sister-in-law Lynda Parsons, Deluth, Ga; 2 granddaughters Emily Marie Mason and Charlotte Renee Mason, and his nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 4-6PM at Avinger Funeral Home.

Services will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charity of one’s choice.
