Shelby Boggs Thornley

Shelby Boggs Thornley, 78 of Charleston South Carolina, passed away on February 12, 2024. 

Born on September 2, 1945, in Orangeburg, Shelby was a daughter of the late Lois Sweatman Boggs and Kilford Ware Boggs. 

Shelby graduated from Lander College with a degree in education and was an elementary school teacher for years. She enjoyed reading, especially mysteries. Shelby loved spending time with her grandchildren

Shelby is preceded in death by her parents.

Shelby is survived by sons, Chris Thornley (Alison) and Kevin Thornley (Michelle); a sister, Faye Parker; and her grandchildren, Bishop, Ellis, Olivia, Ava and James. 

A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 at Holly Hill Cemetery in Holly Hill. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
