Richard S. Rickenbacker

HOLLY HILL - Richard Stokes Rickenbacker, 69, of Holly Hill, husband of Mary Jennings Rickenbacker, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. A graveside service will be 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Holly Hill Cemetery with Rev. Buddy Locke officiating. A native of Holly Hill, Richard was a son of the late Robert Carroll Rickenbacker and Doris Stokes Rickenbacker. He was a graduate of Holly Hill High School, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of Holly Hill United Methodist Church. Richard retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, and was formerly employed with Triple C Trucking and Dorchester Dirt Co. He enjoyed fishing and shrimping. Surviving are his wife of the home; sons, Richard S. "Ricky" Rickenbacker, Jr. (Amy) of Harleyville and Henry Carroll Rickenbacker of Ft. Worth, Tex.; a sister, Doris June Avinger (Buddy) of Holly Hill; grandchildren, Clint, Christina, and Ryan; and a great-grandson, Aiden. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. this Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Holly Hill Cemetery Fund, PO Box 203, Holly Hill, SC 29059.
