Richard "Pappy" Clemons

SANTEE - Richard "Pappy" D. Clemons, 75, of Santee, husband of Patsy Watkins Clemons, died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his home. Funeral services with military rites will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Rev. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends prior the service beginning at 2 p.m. Richard was born in Beckley, W.Va., a son of the late Forest Clarence Clemons and Myrtle Shell Clemons. He retired from the Air Force having served in Vietnam, and owned Goodies and Gifts Pawn Shop in Orangeburg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Richard Clemons, Jr. of Goose Creek, and Robert (Tonya) Clemons of Santee; sisters, Mary Lou (Charles) McClelland, NC, Pam (John) McEwen and Nell Clemons, both of Arcadia, Fla.; brothers, Bob (June) Clemons of Arcadia, Fla., James Clemons of Ft. Myers, Fla., Doug Clemons of Albemarle, NC, and Dale (Gladys) Clemons of Eutawville; and six grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Church of God, 1112 Bridge St., St. Matthews, SC 29135.
