Reta W. McLeod

Reta Way McLeod, 94, life-long resident of Holly Hill, SC and four-year resident of Summit Place, Anderson, SC went to live with our Lord on October 6, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Holly Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Cooper Stonestreet and Rev. Albert Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery. Reta was the daughter of the late Marvin C. Way and Elise Hutto Way and the wife of the late Marion Clifford McLeod. She attended Columbia College and was a life-long member of Holly Hill United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 43 years, was a member of the choir, and a member of the Lillian Colvin Circle. Reta was a charter member and life time member of the Holly Hill Music Club, serving as Treasurer for over 30 years and served as State Treasurer for a number of years. The Bennett/McLeod Scholarship Fund of the Holly Hill Chapter was established to award deserving students in furthering their music education. She is survived by her daughter, Mac Reta McLeod Kennedy (Butch) of Pendleton, SC; grandchildren, April Kennedy Haynes (Harvey) and Sid Kennedy (Shea) of Pendleton, SC; and Harold S. McLeod (Julie) of the Charleston area; great-grandchildren, Tyler Haynes, Alex Haynes, Lily McLeod, and Jack McLeod; a number of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Bunny H. McLeod of Camden, SC; loyal and devoted family friend, JC Ravenell of Holly Hill, SC; loving caregivers, Chestine, Eva, Ethelrene, Ruth, Wyona, and Lucy of the Anderson area; and the dedicated employees of Summit Place. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Marion Clifford "Chip" McLeod Jr.; a sister, Violet Way Clarke (J. Jennings Clarke); and brother M.C. Way, Jr. (Margueritte). The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church one hour prior to the service.
