Rembert "Buddy" Riddle Griffin Jr.

Rembert “Buddy” Riddle Griffin Jr., 78, of Eutawville, South Carolina, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026.

Born on April 27, 1948, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Rembert “Perky” Griffin and Dorothy Brown Griffin.

Buddy proudly served his country for six years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ogden. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 10980 in Eutawville.

Throughout his working years, Buddy was employed by Holly Hill Lumber, Stone Container, and Dempsey Wood Products. He was an avid bass fisherman who enjoyed spending time on Lake Marion. Buddy and his beloved wife, Barbara, could often be seen together, sharing 58 years of marriage and making countless memories. Above all, he cherished his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Buddy is survived by his daughter, Susan Deloach (Henry); his son, Wes Griffin (Niki); grandchildren, Chelsea (Tyler), Wesley (Brittany), John William, Rebecca (Chris), Scott (Rachel), and Nicolas (Shelbi); great-grandchildren, James Frederick, Logan Nicole, and Sawyer Robert; a brother and sister; and his extended family.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Jackson Griffin, and his infant son, Rembert Riddle Griffin III.

A service honoring Buddy’s life will be held at a later date at VFW Post 10980 in Eutawville, with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Veteran’s Victory House, 2461 Sidneys Road, Walterboro, SC 29488, or Patriot Hospice, 4741 Hwy. 153, Suite B, Easley, SC 29642.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Veterans Victory House and Patriot Hospice for the compassionate and dedicated care provided to Buddy.
