Ray Bittner, Jr

Ray Bittner, Jr., 74, of 395 Mill Creek Road, Vance, died Wednesday morning, June 19, 2013 at Providence Hospital in Columbia. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Rev. Buddy Locke officiating. Burial will be private. Mr. Bittner was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Ray Bittner and Mary Margaret Wise Bittner. He was a Navy veteran and a retired truck driver. Surviving are a special friend, Darlene Temple Ward of Mill Creek (Vance); daughters, Christine "Chris" Hastings of Zanesville, Ohio, Sandra Bittner of Newark, Ohio, and Ellen Thompson of Heath, Ohio; son, Charles Bittner of Zanesville, Ohio; Tracy Hale of Kansas City, KS; and a step-son, Dean Stebnitz of Vance. The family will receive friends following the service.
