HOLLY HILL - Pearl C. McGhee, 75, of Holly Hill, widow of Wesley "Mac" McGhee, passed away Tuesday, May 17. 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Sandridge Baptist Church with Rev. Owen Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be J.W. Grooms, Lawrence Caddell, T.J. Grooms, Daniel Almas, Stephen Harris, Josh Graw, Bryan Southard, and Aaron Smoak. Pearl was born in Columbus County, NC, a daughter of the late Jason Cartrette and Derotha C. Cartrette Thompson. She was a long-time server at Clark's Restaurant in Santee. Pearl was a member of Sandridge Baptist Church, and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was preceded in death by children, Trudy Vaughn and Bruce McGhee; and a brother, Paul Cartrette. Surviving are children, Jimmy (Betty) McGhee of Danville, VA, Alice Faye (Dwight) Merricks of Callands, VA, Philip McGhee of Asheboro, NC, Marie (Jimmy) Grooms of Holly Hill, Teresa (David) Young of Kingsland, GA, Denise (Glenn)Caddell of Sandridge, Eutauqua (Tim) Grooms of Holly Hill, and Debbie (Eddie) Guess of Brunswick, GA; sisters, Meryl (Marvin) Staller of Holly Hill, and Sue (Jim) Toth of Colorado Springs, CO; step-father, Frank Thompson of Holly Hill; 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Avinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 2680 Elms Plantation Blvd., North Charleston, SC 29406.
