SANTEE-Mrs. Nancy Taylor Shuler, 71, of the Providence Community, wife of Douglas Shuler, Sr., died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her home. A funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home, Holly Hill, with burial to follow in the Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Nancy was born in Harleyville, a daughter of the late Preston Lisco Taylor and Mary Sweatman Taylor. She was a former town clerk in Holly Hill and was retired from the SC Dept. of Transportation. An avid crocheter, she really loved sharing those items, especially with her grandchildren. She loved to watch the birds outside her window. She also enjoyed traveling and camping. Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church, Eutawville, and was preceded in death by a brother, William Taylor. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Dana Stello (Chuck) of Goose Creek, Preston Carson (Renee) of Holly Hill, and Bryan Carson (Kim) of Eutawville; step-children, Claire Mizell (Joey) and Doug Shuler, Jr. (Sandra), all of Santee, and Craig Shuler (Kathy) of St. George; sisters, Norma Massenburg (Bailey) of Holly Hill, and Myra Arnette of Sumter; a brother, Walter Taylor of Harleyville; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Grove Park Hospice and especially Tammy Irick for the care and support of them and Nancy.
