Michael Joseph Griffith

Michael Joseph Griffith, 66, of Holly Hill, died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Griffith was born May 7, 1945, in Gaithersburg, Md., a son of the late Harrison Gloyd Griffith and Catherine Sappington Griffith. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a retired truck driver from Cardinal Transport. Mike was a member of AMA Motorcycle Club, and a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Santee. He was predeceased by sons, Sean Griffith and Buster McLendon. Survivors are daughters Mindy (Kevin) Larson of San Diego, Calif., Nicole McLendon of Cross, and Catrina Griffith of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Julie (Phil) Caswell and Barbara Griffith, both of Gaithersburg, Md.; brothers, Father Sidney Griffith and Robert (Donna) Griffith, both of Gaithersburg, Md.; grandchildren, Alexis, Jarod, and Jacob; niece, Hillary; nephew, Michael; and best friend, Marilyn Griffith. Friends and family may call at Avinger Funeral Home, Holly Hill, from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2011. Funeral services and burial will be in Gaithersburg, Md.
