Melvin Harley Dantzler, 84 passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Born June 8, 1941, in the Providence Community to Hubert Dantzler Sr. and Althea Harley Dantzler, Melvin lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and the land he loved. He was married for 52 years to the late Elizabeth “Lib” Felkel Dantzler.
Melvin worked for over thirty years at the Holnam Cement Plant, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Melvin was an avid fisherman—enjoying both saltwater and freshwater—and a passionate gardener. He was especially known for the acres of vibrant daylilies he cultivated, as well as his abundant vegetable garden. Melvin was a member of Target United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers Hubert “Sonny” Dantzler Jr. and Alfred Dantzler; and sisters Joyce Hill and Genevieve Carpenter.
Melvin is survived by his brother, Leon Dantzler (Jamie), numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Connie Shuler.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 2PM at Target United Methodist Church, 705 Target Road, Holly Hill. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Target United Methodist Church in memory of Melvin.
