HOLLY HILL- Mary Wiles Pritcher, 97, widow of O. D. Pritcher, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:30 pm Sunday, January 28 at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home. Mrs. Pritcher was born in Midway, a daughter of the late Rosa Hungerpillar and Charlie Wiles. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She presided over one of the best dinner tables ever and loved to feed her family and friends. She was widely known for her excellent fig preserves. Her dinners were often followed by a big slice of pound cake topped with a slab of Neopolitan ice cream carved from the carton with a butcher knife. She loved nothing more than socializing with her family and friends. Every morning began with a family devotional and a few verses from the Bible. On Sunday mornings her car was always parked at Corinth Baptist Church in its familiar spot, and she was in her seat with her Sunday School class. She was kind and always dependable, an anchor for her husband and sons. A pleasant memory for her family is the sound of her late husband OD's voice at the back steps calling out 'Mary!'- a daily reminder of how indispensable she was to her family. She is predeceased by a granddaughter, Rebecca Pritcher. Survivors are her sons, Michael (Sandra) Pritcher, Nathan (Sandra) Pritcher, Gary (Cindy) Pritcher, all of Holly Hill, and Roger (Linda) Pritcher of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Jeff Pritcher, Karen Webb and Blain Pritcher; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emily Rourk of Orangeburg.
