Marian Shuler Goforth

Marian Goforth, 61 of Elloree, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

As the 1989 Disney movie told us, "All Dogs Go to Heaven". If this is true, God must have needed someone to help take care of all of our four-legged friends, and he chose the best when he called Marian home.

Marian was born in Orangeburg, SC on December 23, 1961. She was a graduate of Clarendon Hall. After meeting and marrying her husband, Johnny Dal Goforth, she moved to Blackville, SC where they established their family home. Marian was employed by, and eventually retired from, Sarah Lee/Hanes in Barnwell, SC. Upon her and her husband's retirement they relocated back to her childhood hometown of Elloree, SC where Marian volunteered her time at For the Love of a Paw, helping to care for the cats and kittens. Her favorite place was at her home in Elloree surrounded by her family, friends, and a bevy of lovable canines. You were liable to be greeted by a new tail wagging puppy with every visit to the Goforth house. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Marian loved visits to the beach.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Esther Shuler. She is survived by her husband Johnny Dal Goforth of Elloree; her brother Ed Shuler (Shirley) of Elloree; her sister Inger Walker (Nelson) of Manning; children Jamie Mandy Crosby (Steve) of Cordova and Cory Nicole Goforth (Tanner) of Orangeburg; stepchildren Shannan Tilson (Rick) of Smyrna, GA and Johnny Goforth (Jennie) of Chapin; grandchildren Savannah Crosby, Hailey Lane, Sarah Mair, Chloe Shumaker, Porter Lesesne, Hudson Goforth, Josie Goforth, and Wes Tilson; and great grandchild Aaron Staley, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 12th, 2023, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road in Holly Hill, South Carolina. A Graveside service will be held privately by the family.
