ELLOREE - Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Marten of Elloree, SC, wife of Marvin Frederick "Fred" Marten, Jr., entered into eternal peace and joy with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on August 12, 2012. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Elloree United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in the Elloree-Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers are Frank West, Jake Shuler, James Allford, Jerry Coffey, Furman Langley, and Mark Smith. Our beloved Libby was born on February 16, 1950, in Orangeburg SC, daughter of the late Samuel Howard Shuler, and Mary Elizabeth Rast Shuler. She was a licensed interior designer whose work graced homes locally and abroad. Libby was an associate of Santee Furniture World for more than twenty-five years, providing consultation for their clientele. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for the last eighteen years, where her parents were married in 1949. Prior to that she was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a dedicated Sunday school teacher and choir member. She also served on the youth, personnel, and other committees. Libby was a friend and confidant to all who knew her and was loved dearly by her family. Surviving are her husband, Fred of the home; a daughter, Mary Melissa "Missy" Price and her husband, Chris of Bemidji, Minn.; a son, Marvin F. Marten, III and his wife Margie, of Spartanburg; a brother, Samuel H. Shuler, of Providence; and grandsons, Gavin and Brodie Price. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this Monday Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road, Holly Hill, and other times at the family home.
