Leon C. Myers VANCE- Leon C. Myers, 65, of Vance, died Sunday July 31, 2011 at Trident Medical Center after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gerizim United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barry Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard. Pallbearers will be Tommy Williams, Ronald Preston, Brian Williams, Wayne Myers, Larry Myers and Stevie Myers. Mr. Myers was born in Moncks Corner, a son of the late Archy and Rosa Lee Myers. He was a heavy equipment operator at Lafarge Cement and a member of Gerizim United Methodist Church. Leon is survived by his wife, Cindy, of the home; daughters, Yolanda (Tommy) Williams of Hardeeville and Evonne (Ronald) Preston of Vance; sisters, Hazel Driggers of Summerville, Caroline Ivey of Ladson, Jannie Mae Shaw of Goose Creek and Catherine Gierman of Illinois; brothers, Dempsey Myers of Lincolnville and Edward Myers of Goose Creek; grandchildren, Ashley Hewitt and Brian Williams of Hardeeville and Brianna Preston and Jacob Preston of Vance; and a great granddaughter, Alana Hewitt of Hardeeville. Friends may call at Avinger Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. this Tuesday, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gerizim United Methodist Church, Picnic Shelter, C/O William Carter, 165 Four Horse Lane, Vance, SC 29163.
