CHARLESTON - Mrs. Laurrine Boshans Jackson, 80, of Charleston, widow of Ted Douglas Jackson, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at her daughter's home in Santee. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3075 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, with Pastors Paul Aebischer and Elizabeth Platts officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Viewing, beginning at 1 p.m. will be held at the church before the service. Mrs. Jackson was born in Saginaw, Mich., a daughter of the late William Boshans and Lydia Benkendorff. She was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired as administrative assistant to the Dean of Dentistry at MUSC. Mrs. Jackson was a volunteer in the new born units of MUSC Hospital and St. Francis Hospital, and she received the Golden Heart Award for her volunteer service in public schools. She was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. Surviving are a daughter, Susan J. Young and her husband, Rev. Wayne Young of Santee; a son, Rev. Steven Douglas Jackson of Newberry; a brother, Bill Boshans; and grandchildren, Amy Young of Charlotte, Brad Young of Hilton Head, and Tyler Young of Eutawville.
