Kim Birt

SANTEE - Kim Birt, 52, of Santee, husband of Carol Tobias Birt, died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Santee Bible Baptist Church, 9750 Old Number Six Hwy., Santee with Rev. Gene Ball officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Kim was born in Barnwell, a son of the late Bobby Birt and Bonnie Hartis Birt. He worked in towing and recovery most of his life, and was a true "people person." Kim loved animals and he and his wife made a home available to several "adopted" children. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Birt and a grandson, Joshua Logan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jamie (Casey) Birt of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; daughters, Tocara (Sam) Wright and Raylee B. Birt, all of Santee; sisters, Rhonda (Buck) McLeod of Blackville, and Carol B. Fralix of Vance; brothers, Wayne (Yvonne) Birt of Olar, Ira (Marcia) Birt of Vance, and Dan (Lisa) Birt of Barnwell; grandchildren, Raleigh Tucker Mathis, Hayden James Birt, Khalil Monroe Wright, Chloe E. Logan, Andrew Gaskins, and Kayla Gaskins. Memorials may be made to the Maude Schiffley SPCA, PO Box 1584, Orangeburg, SC 29116.
