EUTAWVILLE - Mrs. Julia Lee Beatty Watkins, 81, of Eutawville, wife of Wroten Billy Watkins, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Eutawville United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Davis and Rev. Beth Burgess Drennan officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. this Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill. Mrs. Watkins was born at Milligan Plantation near Vance, a daughter of the late Guy Beatty and Violet Avinger Beatty. After losing her mother to an accident when she was three years old, she and her sister, "Jackie" were raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Mattie Mae Avinger Winter and Daniel Winter in Eutawville. A graduate of Eutawville High School and Winthrop College, Mrs. Watkins taught in the public schools for 30 years in Summerville, Eutawville, Holly Hill, and Catonsville, MD. She was an active member of Eutawville United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and UMW member until health problems intervened. She was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Beatty, Jr. Surviving are husband of 59 years, Billy Watkins of the home; sons, Matthew Watkins of Chapin, and William Watkins (Gayle) of Eutawville; a sister, Jacqueline Shipley of Ellicott City, MD; and grandchildren, Ben, Brian, and Emily Watkins. The family especially would like to thank longtime caregiver, Belinda Profit and Grove Park Hospice for their immeasurable help.
