Joyce Elizabeth Solt McCreight

Joyce “Joy” Elizabeth McCreight, 69, of Santee, SC, devoted wife of William “Ace” Michael McCreight, entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2021, at her residence alongside her husband.
Joy was born December 21, 1951, in Moses Lake, Washington. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Elary Solt, Jr. and Doris Irene Veronee Solt.
Prior to an early retirement, Joy was the Simplified Acquisition Branch Head at Space & Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), Charleston, SC. She met the love of her life in an engineer who she determined to be the special "one". Joy and Ace were married on June 15, 1994, and remained happily married for over 27 years.
Joy was a proud mother, grandmother, and aunt. She looked forward to family gatherings and pool time. She was a free spirit. She enjoyed trips to the beach for picnics by boat, taking long drives down 61 and pulling into private driveways to explore what she didn’t believe was private. She had a love for scenic views, lighthouses, and taking pictures of those views so that she could recreate them in her paintings. She especially appreciated living in their home on Lake Marion, where she would spend hours watching the birds diving into the lake for fish, and observing the character of the lake change on a daily basis. In devotion to God, Joy was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering and working alongside her husband in the sound booth during church services.
Joy is survived by her husband of 27 years, William “Ace” M. McCreight; brother, Jasper E. Solt III of Goose Creek, SC; son, Chad E. West (Audrey) of Hanahan, SC; son, William “Skipper” McCreight (Heather) of North Charleston, SC; nephew, Jason E. Solt; niece, Sydney M. Solt; and grandson, Conor J. West. All will miss her dearly.
Throughout her life, Joy had an immense love of nature and animals. In lieu of flowers or other gifts in memoriam, please consider donating in Joy’s memory to either Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter, Orangeburg, SC, (803) 534-0045, or to "A Second Chance Animal Shelter", Manning, SC, (803) 473-7075.
