Johnny Bowzard

HOLLY HILL - John W. "Johnny" Bowzard, 71, husband of Libby Clary Bowzard, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Holly Hill, with Rev. Marshall Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bubba Weatherford, Michael Smoak, Jason Wiles, Gerald Sweatman, Wayne DeWitt, Kevin Salisbury, Tom Hutto and Timmy Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Hoff, Greg Wiles, Bobby Yount, Buddy Avinger, Daniel Rhame, and Johnny Collier. Johnny was born July 1, 1945, the son of the late Lee Bowzard and Mae Salisbury Bowzard. He was a graduate of Carlisle Military School and was retired from Lafarge Cement after 27 years. Johnny enjoyed hunting, and fishing, as well as cooking suppers in his cook shed with family and friends. He was well known for his delicious catfish stew. In addition to his wife, Libby of 50 years, he is survived by daughters, LeAnne (Troy) Troutman of Holly Hill, and Lauren (Scott) Gibson of Lexington; grandchildren, Spencer and Maelee Troutman, and Tanner Gibson; sisters, Ann (Don) Marden of Oakland, Maine, and Carolyn Hutto of Holly Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Avinger Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
