John J. Simons, III

EUTAWVILLE - John James Simons, III, 62, of Eutawville, husband of Cindy Simons, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Locke officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery. A native of Eutawville, Johnny was the son of John James Simons, Jr. and Rosa Lee Hallman Simons. He was a graduate of Holly Hill High School and Orangeburg-Calhoun Tech. Johnny was retired from the US Air Force and was a current employee Westbury's Ace Hardware in Holly Hill. He enjoyed fishing and was a former firefighter and first responder for the Eutawville and Vance Fire Departments. Johnny was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and the adult choir of the church. Surviving are his wife of the home; daughters, Jennifer Simons of Vance, Cissy Simons of Summerville, and Amanda (John) Wiles of Holly Hill; grandchildren, Chelsea Griffin, Wesley Griffin, Joshua Heatley, Rachel Wiles, John Griffin, Angel Wiles, Johnny Wiles, Alexander Heatley, Hannah Wiles, and Zackorie Heatley. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this Monday at Avinger Funeral Home, Holly Hill. Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church , PO Box 69, Vance, SC 29163.
