October 11, 1935 — November 6, 2013

SANDRIDGE COMMUNITY, RIDGEVILLE - Martha "Jo" Little Horne entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 6th, at her residence in the Sandridge Community, Ridgeville, S.C. She was born on October 11, 1935 in Ashburn, Georgia, a daughter of the late Hammie Neal "Snip" Little, Virgie Rea Little and stepmother, Doris Bass Little. She attended Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fl., majoring in Home Economics. She married Robert Charles "Bob" Horne on December 21, 1955, moved to S.C. and together they built the family farm with hard work, friendship and love. Jo was a long-time member of Sandridge First Baptist Church, serving on several committees. She enjoyed singing, fishing, working with her hands in the garden, and growing beautiful flowers. She loved all of God's creatures, especially cats and red cardinals. She was an excellent cook, never met a stranger and her family always came first. Jo is survived by Bob (her husband of nearly 58 years); her three children Steve Horne of Sandridge, Vicki Wingate of Moncks Corner, and Kelly Horne of Sandridge; her sister, Linda Jean Sever (Jim) of Picayune, Miss.; her grandson, Christopher Wingate; and great-granddaughter, Madison Wingate. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. this Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Rd., Holly Hill. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Sandridge First Baptist Church, 4677 State Road, Sandridge Community. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to Roper Hospice, 1483 Tobias Gadson Blvd., Suite 208A, Charleston, SC 29407 or The American Cancer Society.
