Jean B. Hunter

Jean Hunter, 84 of Rockdale, Texas, formally of the Sandridge Community passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Born on April 11, 1939 in Davis Station, South Carolina Jean was a daughter of the late Lucy Cutter Bodenheimer and John Bodenheimer.

Jean was a member of Sandridge First Baptist Church for many years where she was actively involved. Later she attended Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Jean was a dental assistant until her children were born and then she became a full-time housewife, stay-at-home mom, and then grandmother.  She never missed a Friday hair day at the beauty shop. In August 2022 Jean moved to Texas to be near her son, Jake, and his family. Jean enjoyed going to the senior center daily where she met many new friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jake Hunter; sons Brian Aultman and Darell Aultman, and her six brothers and sisters.

Jean is survived by her son, Jake Hunter (Laura); grandsons, Christopher Aultman, Clinton Aultman, Kyle Hunter and Lane Prince; granddaughters, Madison Smith (Zachary), Emma McMillan (Brody), Brooklyn Prince and Everly Hunter; great grandchildren, Danica and Sophia Aultman, Grayson Robertson and Noah Mendoza; and the rest of her extended family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 3-5PM at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road in Holly Hill, South Carolina.

The service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Sandridge First Baptist Church, 4677 State Rd. Ridgeville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Bodenheimer, Travis Bodenheimer, Rick Duke, John Lewis, Eric Rowell, Sean Briley, and Al Hobbs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandridge First Baptist Church or Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church.
