EUTAWVILLE - James Vernon Adkins died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home. Born in Orangeburg County, he was a son of the late Stephen G. and Justine Weatherford Adkins. He was employed with Bilton Ford of St. George for over 30 years and was a US Army veteran. He was a member of Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, loved fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 at the church. Surviving are his wife, Ida Bell Adkins of the home; a son, James V. "Jamie" (Paula) Adkins, Jr. of Rapid City, SD; a daughter, Karen (George) Helton of Maryville, TN; sisters, Nellie M. (J.W.) Garrett of Cross, SC and Tina Johnson of Summerville; grandchildren, David and Benjamin Ford and Audrey, Autumn, and Chloe Adkins. He was preceded in death by brothers Harold, Steve, and John Adkins and a sister, Elizabeth Syphrett. Memorials may be made to Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church Men's Fellowship, 1689 County Line Rd, Cross, SC 29436.
