James Edward Gravitt

SANTEE- James Edward "Jim" Gravitt, 77, husband of Penny S. Gravitt, passed away September 15, 2017 at his home. Memorial service will be 4pm Monday, September 18, at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Fred Sanford and Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will be private. Jim was born in Ashburn, Georgia a son of the late Dewey Gravitt and Elah Pate Gravitt. He was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church as long as his health permitted and a former board member of Tri-County Electric Co-op for 25 years. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia. Survivors are his wife of the home; daughters, Leigh Ann (Andy) Rutledge of Holly Hill, Tracie (Richard) Fales of Orangeburg; stepdaughters, Becky (Michael) Owens of Hemmingway and Suzanne Barlow of Surfside Beach; a brother, Eugene Gravitt of Ashburn, Georgia; a nephew, Ellis Gravitt of Ashburn, Georgia; 7 grandchildren, Amber, Miceala, Jacob, Aaron, Madison, Allison and Nathan; and a beloved dog, Bella. The family would like to say a special thanks to caregivers, Jessica Bozard, Lynn Bircheat and Delores Glover. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 2:30 in the social hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Youth Fund, PO Box 69, Vance, SC 29163.
