Jacqueline Mitchum "Jackie" Kelly

Jacqueline Mitchum "Jackie" Kelly, 89, of Santee, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Born on July 19, 1937, in Norfolk, Virginia, Jacqueline was the daughter of the late Blanche Livingston Mitchum and Jefferson Thomas Mitchum.

A 1955 graduate of Elloree High School, Jackie went on to graduate from the Orangeburg Regional School of X-Ray Technicians in 1957. On November 22, 1958, she married Kenneth Kelly, and together they shared many wonderful years filled with love, family, and treasured memories.

Jackie dedicated more than 30 years of service to Orangeburg Regional Hospital as an X-ray technician. She truly loved her profession and the people she worked with, taking great pride in caring for others and teaching classes throughout her career. Her compassion, knowledge, and friendly personality left a lasting impression on countless patients, coworkers, and students.

She was an active member of Elloree Methodist Church and enjoyed being involved in her community. Jackie was a proud member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Paul McMichael Chapter 427, the Elloree Jaycee-Ettes, the Red Hat Ladies, and the Eutawville Garden Club.

Known for her independent spirit and determination, Jackie could be a little bossy at times, a trait those who loved her came to appreciate with a smile. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with family and friends, and especially loved living on the lake. Some of her happiest moments were spent fishing with Kenny and friends, followed by the old-fashioned fish fries that brought everyone together.

In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny; special cousin, Betty Jo Embrey; brother-in-law Heyward Kelly; and a niece Debbie Kelly Grubs.

Jackie is survived by a daughter Cole Dantzler; son, Kenny Kelly (Jamie); brother, Fletcher Mitchum; grandchildren, Kayla Green (Jason), Brittany Dantzler (Reagan), Austin Kelly, Jordan Kelly, and Emma Kelly; great-grandchildren, Evan, Adair, and Case; sister-in-law Mary Kelly; nephews, Davis Mitchum (Nancy) and Bryan Kelly (Toni); nieces, Melina Poland (Eddie) and Sarah Kelly; many loving cousins and the rest of her extended family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Elloree Methodist Church, 501 W. Barkley St., Elloree. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Jerusalem Cemetery, 7647 Old Number Six Hwy., Santee.
