Homer D. Mears, Jr

HOLLY HILL - Homer Deason Mears, Jr., 67, of Holly Hill, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Charleston. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Avinger Funeral Home with Rev. Neil Breland officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Homer, Jr. was born in Ridgeland, a son of Homer D. Mears and the late Louise Raymond Mears. He was a graduate of Holly Hill High School and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and musician. Surviving are his father of Holly Hill; sons, Chris Mears of Holly Hill, David (Tracy) Mears of Rock Hill, and Dale Mears of Charleston; a sister, Barbara (Neil) Breland of North Augusta; a brother, Harry (Annette) Mears of St. Helena Island; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
