HOLLY HILL - Mrs. Helen Frye Johnson, 84, widow of T. Berry Johnson, died Thursday, February 3, 2011 in a Summerville hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Hill with Rev. Ray Cribb and Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway. Mrs. Johnson was born in Conway, a daughter of the late George Dewey Frye and Agnes Elizabeth Altman Frye. A graduate of Aynor High School, she was a Baptist and a retired waitress. Surviving are daughters, Bonnie Hussey of Myrtle Beach, Lou Glover of Charleston, Cheryl Knight and Patricia Marinda, both of Fairfield, Cal., Liz Austin, Alice Roberson, and Doris Johnson, all of Walterboro; sons, Rev. Norman Johnson of Conway, Wayne and Jerry Johnson, both of Charleston, Franklin Johnson of Fairfield, Cal., Johnny Johnson of Summerville, and George Johnson of Orangeburg; a sister Kay Bracher of Conway; a brother, Tommy Frye of Aynor; 26 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
