Gladys Griffin Kemmerlin Rush

Gladys Griffin Kemmerlin Rush, 89 of Vance, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Born on April 30, 1936 in Santee, SC Gladys was a daughter of the late Bessie Martin Griffin and Noney Griffin. Gladys was an outstanding basketball player at both Providence and Holly Hill High School. She enjoyed sports, traveling and especially cruises. She was the longest active member of Gerizim United Methodist Church. Gladys' true love was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sunday lunches at grandma's house was a tradition that she truly loved. Gladys never knew a stranger and she loved everyone.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband LM Kemmerlin; husband Len Rush; sisters Ruth Strock and Betty Beck, and brothers Lewis Clark, Bobby Clark, and Charles Griffin. Gladys is survived by sons Luther Kemmerlin and Bruce Kemmerlin (Debra); daughter Sharon Askew; sister, Johnnie Jones; grandchildren Christopher, Joshua, Tonya (Joseph), Eric (Jessica), Stacy, Shantelle (Lance) and Amber (Darrell); great grandchildren Lexus, Kaydence, Ethan, Breland, Aria, Dylan, Ellie, Emmett, Anna Grace and Asher.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 10-11AM at Gerizim United Methodist Church. The service will follow at 11am. Burial will conclude in the church cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Eric Kemmerlin, Joshua Kemmerlin, Jason Strock, Wayne Griffin, Clarence Johnson, and Lance Dukes.
