Fred MatthewsSANTEE-Fred Louis Matthews, 75, of Santee Cooper Resort, Santee, husband of Sandra Hewitt Matthews, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at his home. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Church of the Epiphany, 211 Epiphany Road, Eutawville, with the Rev. Tom Hendrickson officiating. Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Avinger of Columbia and Cynthia and Rusty Brodie of Orangeburg; four grandchildren, Matthew Avinger, Ashley Knight, Nicole and Katherine Brodie; one great-grandson, Shane Stratton; a sister, Jean (Bill) McAlhaney of Orangeburg; and brothers, Richard (Lynette) Matthews of Jacksonville, FL, Ronald (Paula) Matthews of Columbia William (Donna)Matthews and Reginald Matthews, both of Orangeburg. The family will receive friends in the Church Ministry Center following the service.
