Frances Elliott Sinkler

Frances E. Sinkler of Eutawville, S.C. passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 at the age of 78. She was the daughter of the late Thurman Bernice Elliott, Sr. and Mary Essie Roberts Elliott.

She attended Holly Hilly High School and Columbia Commercial College. Frances married and settled in Eutawville, where she was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mother. Later in life, she was able to enjoy working at several different positions in the neighboring towns. Frances never met a stranger and her infectious smile allowed her to prosper at her jobs at the Holly Hill Country Club, the Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce and Holly Hill Elementary.

Frances lived a life full of faith, family and fun. She was a member of Fellowship of Praise in Santee where she enjoyed services and was especially proud of her 2 grandsons that play on the Praise Team. Her ear for music and playing the piano and harmonica are definitely traits her grandsons inherited from her. From an early age, she loved playing basketball and excelled in the sport in high school. Her love of this sport was passed on to her daughter and grandsons. She rarely missed a game that her daughter and grandsons participated in. She thoroughly enjoyed cheering them on from the stands. Frances also loved the water. She grew up skiing on Lake Marion and even taught her family how to ski. She also enjoyed weekends in her pool and going to the beach with family every year. Frances loved spending time with her girlfriends and taking salt water fishing trips, trips to the mountains and even camping trips on Lake Marion.

In her later years when her health declined, she enjoyed family gatherings at her home. She truly loved being “Mamaw” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are what made her smile the biggest!

Frances is survived by her daughter Ginny (Kris), her grandchildren Tyler (Katelyn), Dennis (Keagan), Kristopher and Haley and her great grandchildren Weston and Willow. She was preceded in death by her brothers Buck and Thurman Elliott, her sisters Lucy Rush and Jeanette Shuler, her brother’s in-law Larmie Prickett, Katon Rush and Manning Shuler, her sister in-law Elaine Elliott and niece, Mary Beth Prickett.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road in Holly Hill, South Carolina. 

The service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Fellowship of Praise, 8280 Old Number Six Highway in Santee, South Carolina. The burial will be held at The Pines Cemetery in Santee.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Lowcountry Community Hospice House in Summerville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship of Praise, PO Box 39, Santee, SC 29142
