HARLEYVILLE - Mrs. Elizabeth Knott Pigate, 74, of Harleyville, wife of Charles Pigate, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at Hospice House of Charleston. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Harleyville, with Rev. Terry Hiers officiating. Burial will follow in the Harleyville Cemetery. Elizabeth was born in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Alfred "Dick" Knott and Mae Hilton Knott. She retired from the Dorchester Co. Clerk of Court and also retired from Bell and Robbins law firm. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Harleyville, and the Eastern Star. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Leo (Teresa) Pigate of Harleyville; sisters Shirley Wertz of New Orleans, LA, Marjorie (Hershel) Mathis of Ocala, Fla., Ellen Breland and Ethel (Chares) Siau, both of Holly Hill; brother, William (Martha) Knott of Gaston; grandchildren, Charlie Pigate and Alan Pigate, both of Harleyville; great-grandchild, Jasmyn Pigate; and six step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. this Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home, Holly Hill.
