Elaine Weatherford

VANCE - Elaine Hooker Weatherford, 64, wife of George Weatherford, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Avinger Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Vaughn and Rev. Buck Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery. Elaine was born in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late C.O. Hooker and Vivian Bell Hooker. A member of Columbia Road Church of God, she cherished her grandchildren, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid USC Gamecock fan. Elaine was preceded in death by a son, James Edward McAlhaney and a brother, Buddy Hooker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Robbie McAlhaney (Leslie) and Tony McAlhaney (Tandy), all of St. George; daughters, Lynn Elenbark (Gary, Sr.) of Summerton, and LaVerne West (Kirk) of Summerville; a sister, Edith Williams of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Brazell, Gary Elenbark, Jr., Christine Elenbark, McKayla Sweatman, Bryce McAlhaney, Carson McAlhaney, an expectant grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Eutawville Cemetery, PO Box 5, Eutawville, SC 29059.
