Edward Kenneth Young, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 25, 2025, in the comfort of his daughter’s home. Born on June 10, 1941, in Sand Rock, Alabama, he was a son to the late Harold Elmer and Geneva Parker Young.
Edward was a cherished father, dedicated mechanic, and avid sports enthusiast, living a life filled with passion for his family, work, and hobbies. Edward proudly served his country in the Naval Reserves and later served active duty in the Army.
A devoted mechanic by trade, Edward worked for many years with Chevrolet, where he was admired for his meticulous work ethic and vast knowledge of automobiles. His skills extended beyond his professional life as he found great joy in owning and building racecars during the 1960s and 1970s, nurturing a lifelong enthusiasm for NASCAR. He was a devoted Dale Earnhardt fan and later a Dale, Jr and Kyle Larson fan. Edwards love for sports was profound, as he loved professional football and remained a steadfast fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide—Roll Tide!
Beyond his mechanical and sporting endeavors, Edward cherished the simple joys of life, such as trips to Folly Beach with the family. He was also an avid boater and fisherman. He collected and refinished firearms and enjoyed target and skeet shooting. In his earlier years, he contributed his skills to the family business; Young’s Towing, displaying the same dedication he brought to every aspect of his life.
