Edna Martin Hill

RIDGEVILLE, SC -Edna Martin Hill, 81, widow of Melvin B. Hill and a resident of the Lebanon Community, died Saturday, June 24, 2017 at home. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 1 in the Gerizim United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Stiltz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00 at the church. She was born September 16, 1935 in Vance, SC, a daughter of the late John Joe Martin and Matilda Williams Martin. She graduated from Holly Hill High School in 1953, but was always proud of having been a member of the Providence High School Purple Hurricanes. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Carol Brooks of the home; a son, Gerald Bobby "Jerry" Hill, I of Vance; grandchildren, Marty Thornal of the home, Michelle Peagler of Elloree, Amy Bunch of Holly Hill Gerald "Bubba" Hill of Vance; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Yount of Eutawville. She was preceded in death by siblings John Bobby Martin, Joe Shufford Martin, and Sylvia Martin Strickland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gerizim United Methodist Church, 1433 Brant Ave., Holly Hill, SC 29059.
