Listen to Obituary

Dorothy Jean Williams, a beloved Christian woman whose faith, love, and service touched everyone she met, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 84. Originally from Eutawville, SC, and most recently of Hampton, Dorothy lived a life devoted to God, her family, and her community.

Dorothy was the cherished wife of the late Freddye Williams. She was the loving daughter of the late Lucille Carrie Robinson Oglesby of Charleston.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Dorothy was deeply devoted to her church and its mission. Her faith was her foundation, and she was proud to be an active and long-standing member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy also spent countless hours volunteering at the Eutawville Crisis Center, where she offered a kind heart and helping hands to those in need.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Ronald T. Preston Jr. (Evonne) and Tommy Williams (Yolanda). And two stepdaughters, Mary Jane Fulciniti and Sally Chubb.

Dorothy’s love for family was evident in the way she spoke of her siblings. She is also survived by 4 beloved brothers: Bobby Altman, Harry Altman, Darrel Altman, and Dale Altman and a Sister, Mary Momier.

Dorothy was immensely proud of her grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy: Wesley Jackson, Shannon Jackson, Ally Jackson, Brian Williams, Travis Chubb, Helen Mertz, Jake Mertz, Brianna Preston, and Jacob Preston. She also had a number of great-grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Pamela Jean Jackson, whose memory she cherished dearly; her brother, Mac Altman; and her very special sister-in-law, Joyce Altman, with whom she shared a close and loving bond. Their passing left a deep mark on her heart, and she often spoke of them with great love and fond remembrance.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember her for her strength, kindness, grace, and her unwavering pride in her family. Her life was one of purpose, guided by faith and filled with love for others.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and compassion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
