Damon Michael Wilson, 71, of Cross, South Carolina, husband of Loretta Wilson, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026.

He was born on June 17, 1954, in Richmond, Virginia, and was the son of the late Rachel Ayers Andre and William Andre.

Damon was a man who truly loved life outdoors. Before moving to South Carolina, he lived on five acres in West Virginia, where he could most often be found outside—mowing the lawn, building something with his hands, or simply enjoying being in the fresh air.

Above all else, Damon was devoted to his family. He treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family to Damon was not limited by blood—if you were his friend, you were his family. There was no escaping his love, his loyalty, or his willingness to welcome anyone into his heart.

Damon was also a man of deep faith who loved the Lord. He was actively involved in church and never hesitated to share the word of Jesus with others. His faith guided his life and was evident to anyone who knew him.

Those closest to Damon will always remember his love for the American Bald Eagle, the Tasmanian Devil, and Popeye the Sailor Man. And if you ever visited his home, chances are good that Independence Day was playing on the television—one of his all-time favorites.

Damon’s life was marked by love, faith, and a generous spirit, and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Damon is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Susan Pope, and siblings William "Butch" and Pat Wilson.

Damon is survived by his wife; daughters Margaret Merrill (Bill) and Jessica Wilson; sons Dylan Ironmonger (Cindy), Damon Wilson Jr. (Don) and Jonathon Pope and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Wayne Wilson, Johnny Wilson, David Andre, Melodie Barclay, Marie Andre and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
