Codie Martinez

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Codie Matinez who left this world far too soon on August 6, 2025, at the age of 20.

Born on July 18, 2005, Codie was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him- a loving son, a devoted brother, and a loyal friend. Codie was deeply loved and forever remembered by his mother, Lesley Martinez and father Joaquin Martinez, his siblings Shayla Martinez (Bobby), Antonio Martinez and Brayden Martinez, and his grandmother Elaine Nesbitt. Codie leaves behind a large and loving family, including many uncles, aunts, and cousins who cherished him deeply.

He is predeceased by his brother Jacob Lee Martinez, his paternal grandparents, maternal grandfather, his aunt on his mother’s side, an uncle on his father’s side and many other beloved family members who welcome him in heaven.

Codie had a sweet soul and an unforgettable presence. He had a gift for making people laugh and a heart that radiated joy. His energy was magnetic- when Codie walked into a room, you felt it. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel seen and welcome. He loved to work hard; make people smile and spend time with those he cared about most. More than anything Codie loved his family and friends. His spirit was golden-rare, radiant and will be deeply missed.

The family will receive Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 5-7PM at Avinger Funeral Home.

The service will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 3PM in the chapel of Avinger Funeral Home.

In honor of Codie’s memory, the family encourages everyone to carry his spirit forward by spreading kindness, laughter and love wherever they go.
