Cherrie Smith

EUTAWVILLE - Mrs. Cherrie Lee Watkins Smith, 96, of Eutawville, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in a North Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Eutawville United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Watkins, Matt Watkins, Ben Watkins, Roger Risher, Sammie Storie, Roger Adkins, and Jamie Murphy. Mrs. Cherrie was born in Eutawville, a daughter of the late Wroten Watkins and Beulah Lee Rourke Watkins. A graduate of Eutawville High School, she was a retired clerk from the town of Eutawville, and was a life-long active member of Eutawville UMC. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, and her cats. Mrs. Cherrie especially liked talking to people. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie S. Risher, and was the widow of William Keller Smith. Surviving are a son, Ray Wayne (Martha Ann) Smith of Eutawville; daughters, Luana (Danny) Singletary of Holly Hill, and Billie Joy Meinders of Eutawville; a brother, W. Billy Watkins of Eutawville; and grandsons, Barry and Travis Meinders of Eutawville. Visitation will be 5 to 7 this Thursday at Avinger Funeral Home.
