Charles Edward Weaver Sr., almost 82, born December 19, 1944, passed away with his wife of 57½ years and his daughter at his side Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
Known as Chuck to his family and friends, he was born in Brainerd, Minnesota, and moved to Seattle, Washington in his preteens.
On April 5, 1969, Chuck married his beloved bride, Kathy Lynn DeMarini. They welcomed three children: Rebecca Le’Ane (Becki), born March 3, 1970, in Stockton, California; Charles Jr. (Ward), born July 16, 1971, in Great Lakes, Illinois; and Jeremy James (JJ), born June 10, 1973, in Seattle, Washington.
Over the years, Chuck and his family made their home in California, Washington, Illinois, Texas, Minnesota, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963, immediately after high school, and retired following 23 years of service. His naval career took him around the world and included two tours in Vietnam. He served as a company commander at the recruit training center in Great Lakes, Illinois and as command master chief aboard the USS Callahan in San Diego California and the USS John Rodgers out of Charleston, SC. His greatest regret was that he had not stayed in the Navy for a full 30 years.
Following his retirement from the Navy, Chuck worked on boilers at a power plant on Parris Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. He later moved to Pine River, Minnesota, where he served as a maintenance manager for the Pine River/Backus school district.
Chuck loved spending time fishing and camping with family and friends. He was a life-long MN Vikings and Twins fan. He didn’t miss a Vikings or Twins game. He also enjoyed watching television, particularly military-related programs, and old Westerns. He absolutely adored his grandbabies as they were growing up and absolutely loved being around his great grands.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Kathy Weaver of St. George; daughter, Becki Gause (Eddie) of Harleyville; son, Charles Jr. (Dawn) of Sparta, Wisconsin; and his sister, Cookie (Don) Cline of Selah, Washington.
To his seven grandchildren, Chuck was Papa. Becki’s four children are Teddy (Angi) DeVore of Jacksonville, Florida; Kristianna (Bryan) Bordelon of Eutawville, South Carolina; Katelynn Borman (Brandon Rick) of Duluth, Minnesota; and Madysun (Corey) Taylor of Holly Hill, South Carolina. Charles Jr’s (Ward) two children are Christina (Jacob) Ruedy of Sparta, Wisconsin, and Chase of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. JJ’s daughter is Scarlett Welborn of Charleston, South Carolina.
Chuck was also a great granddad to Teddy’s three children Charlotte, Thomas, and Caroline, with another great-granddaughter on the way. Kristianna’s six children Avyanna, Micah, Laiken, Elisianna, Breelynn, and Laina Mae. Katelynn’s five children Makayla, Karsen, Jace, Brantley, and Zoey Lynn. Madysun’s daughter Skylar Kay and Christina’s son, Owen, and she is expecting a baby girl, due December 26.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Charlie Weaver of Yakima, Washington; his brother, William Weaver of Seattle, Washington; and his son, Jeremy Weaver of Charleston, South Carolina.
The family would like to thank the staff of Agape Hospice and his caregiver Amy Michelle Johnson for the care and respect that they showed Chuck until his passing.
In lieu of flowers and condolences, please consider donating to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or a Veterans Service Organization.
