Charles Vernon Shuler

HOLLY HILL- Charles V. Shuler, 81, widower of Louise Heaton Shuler, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 his home. Funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Holly Hill with the Rev. Marshal Locke and Rev. Buddy Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the Island Cemetery in the Providence Community. Mr. Shuler was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late M. Filmore Shuler and Mrs. Hazel Shuler. He was a graduate of Holly Hill High School, a member of The First Baptist Church of Holly Hill, Vance Masonic Lodge and 32o Scottish Rite Shriner. He was the former mayor and councilman for the Town of Holly Hill, former president of the Holly Hill Jaycees, and former District Deputy Governor of the Lions Club. He was the founder and owner of Shur Oil Company. He is survived by a daughter, Libeth (Alvin) Infinger of North; a son, Charles V. "Chuck" (Thuy Conde) Shuler, II of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Bryant (Keeley) Shuler, Alvin Infinger, Nicholas Infinger; sisters, Vera Stroman of Orangeburg and Sylvia (Sydney) Skinner of Columbia; a brother, Kenneth (Angie) Shuler of Columbia; a great grandson, Leo Shuler; and special friends, Bonnie (David) Hefner, Queen Washington and Nita Corley. Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Avinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Island Cemetery, C/O Claire Mizell, 189 Grans Place Ln, Santee, SC 29142 and the Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605.
