HOLLY HILL - Mrs. Catherine Foxworth Griggs, 89, of Holly Hill, widow of Robert A. "Bobby" Griggs, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home with Rev. Cooper Stonestreet officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Griggs was born in Bishopville, a daughter of the late Dr. Thomas Daniel Foxworth and Elizabeth "Bessie" McCutchen Foxworth. She attended Columbia College and was a graduate of Furman University, and was a retired school guidance counselor. Mrs. Griggs was a member of the Holly Hill United Methodist Church and the Ivy Garden Club. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Griggs, Jr. Surviving are four sons, Danny Griggs and Douglas Griggs of Holly Hill, Donald Griggs of Columbia, and David Griggs of Manning; and a granddaughter, Joan Catherine Griggs of Greenville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. this Saturday at the funeral home.
