Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Brenda Elizabeth Baxter Soto, who went home to the Lord on December 7, 2025. Though her passing was unexpected, we take comfort in knowing she left this world peacefully in her sleep at Canterbury Living Facility in Richmond, Virginia.

Brenda was born on August 22, 1977, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and graduated from Bowman High School, later receiving a degree in early childhood development. She used this degree to embrace her passion for teaching children for many years. She is preceded in death by her father, Jim Carey Baxter, and is now reunited in heaven with her beloved grandmother, whom she cherished deeply.

She is survived by her mother, Frances Dyches; brother, Hunter Dyches (Damaris); and her children, Cassandra Hazine (Kenneth), Nicholas Soto, Elizabeth Soto (Devin), and Catherine Soto. She also leaves behind two adored grandchildren, Ruby and James Hazine; her nieces, Aspen and Iris Wolfe; along with many other family members and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Brenda lived her life with a spirit of kindness, sincerity, and unwavering love. She possessed a captivating beauty that drew people to her, and she welcomed every person she met with warmth and compassion. She was an inspiration to many and a blessing to all who knew her. As a devoted mother and daughter, her strength, gentleness, and faith were evident in every part of her life.

Brenda found joy in the simple and meaningful moments. She cherished her time on her grandmother’s farm, where the two of them spent countless days canning goods, sharing stories, and creating memories that shaped her gentle spirit. She loved being a mother above all else and poured her heart into raising, playing with, and loving her children. She took great pride in cooking and being a homemaker, finding fulfillment in creating a warm, inviting home for her family. Brenda also had a special love for getting dressed up—sometimes even just for dinner at home—because she believed every day was worth showing up for with grace and beauty.

A scripture she held dear is Proverbs 31:10,26,28 Her price is far above rubies. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed.

Service arrangements will be shared with family and friends as they are finalized.

Though her earthly journey has ended, Brenda’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to shine in the hearts of all she touched. Her beauty was not just seen; it was felt in her laughter, her words, and her gentle way. She is now at peace, embraced by the arms of her Savior, and rejoicing in the presence of the family who welcomed her home in glory.
