Betty Jean Pritcher

VANCE - Betty Way Pritcher, of Vance, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 Peacefully at home. Born December 4, 1947 to the late Herman and Vernell Farr Way of Providence. Betty grew up and attended school in Providence and then Holly Hill High School. After graduating high school she went on to attend schooling in Columbia for office and secretary training. In 1967 Betty married Samuel D. Pritcher of Vance. To this marriage three children were born. Over the years Betty worked at various restaurants in the Santee area either as a cook or as a server until her health prevented from continuing. She was also well known in the community for her pound cakes that she would bake. Betty is leaving behind a large circle of family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Samuel of the home; children, Thomas (Martha) Pritcher of Wilson, NC, Tina Pritcher of the home, and Ty Pritcher of Vance; the group of people that always brought a smile to her face were her grandchildren, Megan and Abbey Pritcher of Wilson, NC, Jordan Pritcher of Savannah, GA, Zoree and Andrew Pritcher of Vance, Tyrelle Duncan and Jaydyn Pritcher of the home; a sister-in-law, Nina Pritcher Haste of Wilmington, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Over the years Betty became very close to a family in which she treated as her children, David Scott Witherell and Jennifer Witherell and their children became like her own grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church near Holly Hill with Rev. Haskell Parler and Rev. Bruce Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill, and other times at the home of Ty Pritcher on Avinger Drive in Vance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Youth Fund, PO Box 69, Vance, SC 29163. The family would like to express their gratitude to Grove Park Hospice for their assistance as well as all their friends for their continuous prayers.
