Betty Bilton

BEAUFORT - Betty Smith Bilton, 77, widow of William "Dan" Bilton, Sr., passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Rev. Legrand Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 12 noon. A native of Elloree, Betty was a daughter of the late Benny Lee Smith, Sr., and Mamie Ruth Dantzler Smith. She was a partner with her husband in the former Bilton Insurance Agency in Denmark, and she was a member of Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church in Neeses. Betty was preceded in death by sons, Thomas Jeffrey Bilton, and William Daniel "Danny" Bilton, Jr. Surviving are a daughter, Shari B. (Terrell) Smith of Beaufort; sisters, Anne Wessinger of Columbia and Jean Marie (David) Wiles of Elloree; a brother, Benny Lee Smith, Jr. of Orangeburg; grandchildren, William Daniel Bilton, III of Summerville, Andrew Jacob Bilton of Varnville, Bryce Terrell Smith, and Brooke Madelyn Smith, both of Beaufort; great-grandchildren, Jaiyden and Grayson Bilton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
